GRoW is a compost-dumping, seed-planting robot that travels to abandoned urban sites re-introducing native flora to the site and depositing compost to enrich the soil in an attempt to aid nature in retaking the plot. If the site has high concentrations of heavy metals the native seeds are exchanged for hyper-accumulators, such as sunflowers, to pull the metals out of the soil. These plants are then harvested to remove the metals from the food chain.
GRoW is guided by GPS and slowly seeds the site radially from a central point. Nearby a solar panel charges an extra set of batteries.
